American Premium Beverage was established in 1973 in Winston Salem. Having begun with a small portfolio of wines, three partners and one employee, APB is now recognized as the clear leader in our region for all segments of the wine business with the most dynamic wine portfolio, containing the most recognized and awarded brands in the entire industry.
On December 1, 2007, R.H. Barringer Distributing Company purchased APB to form the largest and most effective alcoholic beverage distributing company in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. R.H. Barringer was founded in 1933, obtained the rights to distribute Anheuser-Busch in 1935, and now distributes over 400 brands and packages throughout the Piedmont. R.H. Barringer is still owned and operated by the Barringer family, who have provided over 65 years of continuous management, community service and involvement as well as the highest level of service to our customers and consumers.
Beginning in early 2021, we introduced the new APB Eastern Division, which will service new territories and offer a seperate and distinct pportfolio of wines.
Through the years American and R.H. Barringer continue to attract some of the best minds and hardest workers in the industry. Great people and great brands combine to form a company that is recognized as one of the most dynamic in the Southeast.
Our Facility
APB occupies a modern warehouse facility, in Piedmont Corporate Park in Colfax. Our temperature-controlled warehouse was constructed using state of the art technologies for product delivery, handling and storage. The new warehouse is centrally located in the Triad on the western perimeter of Greensboro.
Close proximity to Interstate 40 facilitates fast product deliveries as well as customer shipments. This modern
warehouse facility is situated at one of several highway exits that provide access to the Triad International Airport and is less than two miles from the airport.
Off-Premise Sales Division
Recognizing that a large percentage of wine sales occur during the evening and on weekends, APB developed a "prime-time" service schedule. This schedule insures that wine shelves are stocked and ready for business throughout the entire week.
On-Premise Sales Division
Recognizing the need of many restauranteurs to match the idiosyccratic flavors of their menus with the flavors of the wines on their beverage lists, APB researched how to construct the best beverage list. With the help of leading industry experts and our on-site graphics department, we continuously help our clients fine-tune their beverage lists for wine variety, clear organization and better communication of flavor profiles and pairings. As a result, many of our clients' lists have been awarded the Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence.
